The Alamo Drafthouse's new theater located in the Mission has just overcome a huge hurdle in the way of its completion – it's received its building permits! That may not sound like a big deal, but considering the city's complex and sometimes maddening development process, this is a huge win for both the owners and theater-goers.
As of now, there's no set completion date, but Alamo Drafthouse says the red carpet will roll out for the theater next year. Once open, it'll have five big screens showing new, indie, and old flicks, plus it'll host special events. And of course, it'll serve an exquisite collection of craft beer and food, which best of all, you don't have to leave your seat to enjoy.
If you want to learn more about Alamo Drafthouse, you can hang out with its founder and CEO Tim League tonight at 9:30 at Mission Bar, which is across the street from the development. First 25 drinks are on him!
